Several Netherlands cricketers made significant gains in the latest ICC Men’s ODI rankings following their impressive performances in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 campaign.
The Dutch team has been in strong form in the tournament and recently defeated Nepal by 57 runs in Utrecht, strengthening their position among the top four teams and keeping their hopes alive for a place in the ICC World Cup Qualifier.
Netherlands captain Scott Edwards was among the biggest gainers after his match-winning 57-run innings against Nepal. The right-handed batter moved up four places to jointly occupy the 34th position in the ODI batting rankings.
The team’s bowlers also benefited from the victory. Veteran left-arm spinner Roelof van der Merwe climbed 11 places to joint 63rd in the ODI bowling rankings after taking two wickets in the match. Fast bowler Logan van Beek also moved upwards, rising three places to 76th following his two-wicket performance.
Nepal players also saw improvements after their performances in the tri-series involving the Netherlands and Namibia. Wicketkeeper-batter Aasif Sheikh moved up two places to 76th in the ODI batting rankings.
Among Nepal’s bowlers, Lalit Rajbanshi advanced one spot to 45th, while all-rounder Karan KC made a notable jump of seven places to joint 83rd in the bowling rankings.
Namibia also had a positive rankings update, with four players improving their positions across batting, bowling and all-rounder categories.
Jan Frylinck recorded the biggest rise among Namibian batters, moving up 16 places to joint 90th in the ODI batting rankings. Left-arm pacer Ruben Trumpelmann climbed five places to 87th among ODI bowlers.
In the all-rounder rankings, Bernard Scholtz moved up one place to joint 34th, while JJ Smit gained three positions to reach joint 47th.
The latest rankings reflect the strong performances of players from the three teams competing in the League 2 tri-series and underline the growing competitiveness of associate cricket.
