Darshan Supporters Interrupt CM Shivakumar’s Speech with ‘D-Boss’ Chants, He Urges Respect for Legal Process

Ramanagara, August 5, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar appealed for patience and respect for the judicial process after supporters of jailed Kannada actor Darshan repeatedly interrupted his speech with “D-Boss” slogans during a religious event in Ramanagara.

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening at the Sri Chamundeshwari Devi Karaga Mahotsava, where the Chief Minister had inaugurated the festival and was addressing the gathering in the presence of ministers, legislators and local leaders.

As Shivakumar began his speech, a section of the audience repeatedly chanted slogans in support of Darshan, urging the Chief Minister to intervene in the actor’s legal case. Darshan is currently lodged in jail in connection with a high-profile fan murder case.

Initially responding calmly, Shivakumar acknowledged the supporters’ emotions.

“I understand your feelings. I understand your love for D-Boss. You need to be patient,” he told the gathering.

However, as the sloganeering continued despite repeated appeals, the Chief Minister expressed his displeasure.

“It is not appropriate to raise D-Boss slogans here. Do you want this programme to continue or not?” he asked, urging the crowd to maintain decorum.

When the interruptions persisted, Shivakumar briefly lost his patience, saying he had already understood their concerns and asking them to stop disrupting the programme.

Ramanagara MLA Iqbal Hussain later intervened, requesting the audience to respect the sanctity of the religious event and allow the Chief Minister to complete his address.

After order was restored, Shivakumar resumed his speech and reiterated that the matter involving Darshan was pending before the court and could not be influenced by the government.

“This is a sacred occasion. I respect your affection and admiration for the actor, but this is a sub judice matter. Even as the Chief Minister, I cannot interfere in judicial proceedings. If I make any statement or act under pressure, it will send the wrong message,” he said.

The Chief Minister urged Darshan’s supporters to have faith in the legal process and seek divine blessings rather than political intervention.

“We have to function within the framework of the law. Pray to God, remain patient and everything good will happen,” he said.

Videos of the exchange quickly went viral on social media, drawing widespread attention and reactions.
