Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan has described hosting Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa as her “dream job”, saying her passion for reality television made the experience especially memorable as the Netflix series crossed 50 million viewing hours within three weeks of its premiere.
Farah, who co-hosts the show alongside actor Riteish Deshmukh, said Lock Upp is the finest captive reality format she has watched and credited its popularity to the emotional journeys of its contestants.
“Everyone knows I am obsessed with reality TV, so when I say Lock Upp is the best captive reality show I’ve ever watched, not just hosted, you know I mean it,” she said, adding that the show has become a talking point wherever she goes.
She praised producer Ekta Kapoor and Netflix for creating a format that goes beyond confrontation. According to Farah, the show captures deeply personal confessions, emotional transformations and unexpected relationships, allowing contestants to discover themselves and, in some cases, find redemption.
Riteish Deshmukh said the response from audiences had been overwhelming, noting that the milestone reflects the show’s growing appeal both in India and overseas. He said the experience reinforced the idea that people should not be judged solely by first impressions, as contestants revealed their vulnerabilities and confronted their fears during the competition.
Producer Ekta Kapoor said her collaboration with Netflix was built on shared ownership and creative commitment, which helped transform Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa into a cultural conversation rather than just another reality show.
Monika Shergill, Vice-President, Content, Netflix India, said the series has generated 2.5 billion social media views and has attracted viewers across 12 countries. She added that the show’s success demonstrates the growing global appeal of Indian non-fiction entertainment.
Produced by Balaji Telefilms, Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa follows contestants living together in confinement while competing in tasks and eliminations. The current season features personalities including Ram Kapoor, Shilpa Shinde, Apoorva Makhija, Shivangi Joshi and Harshad Chopda.
