SP MP Ram Gopal Yadav Questions Anti-Paper Leak Bill, Says Laws Alone Cannot Prevent Crimes

New Delhi, July 27, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Ram Gopal Yadav on Monday questioned the effectiveness of the proposed anti-paper leak legislation, arguing that stricter laws alone cannot eliminate examination fraud unless the sources of leaks are addressed.

Reacting to the Centre’s proposed Paper Leak Bill, Yadav said increasing punishments would not be enough to prevent such crimes. “There will be no benefit. It is very easy to leak or hack the paper,” he said.

The SP leader compared examination fraud with other serious crimes, stating that even stringent punishments have not completely stopped offences. “Even the harshest punishment cannot stop crimes. In cases of murder under Section 302, despite the punishment of life imprisonment or the death penalty, murders have never stopped. Such crimes cannot be stopped merely by law,” he said.

Yadav said preventing paper leaks required identifying and securing vulnerable points in the examination process. He suggested that breaches could occur during paper-setting, printing, or through alleged links involving coaching centres and other influential entities.

His remarks came amid the Centre’s efforts to bring in stronger legal provisions against examination malpractices, including tougher penalties for individuals and organisations involved in paper leaks and unfair means.

The issue of examination security has gained political attention amid concerns over the impact of paper leaks on students appearing for competitive examinations. The proposed legislation aims to strengthen accountability and create a stricter framework to deal with those responsible for such offences.

Meanwhile, Yadav also reacted to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s remarks targeting SP president Akhilesh Yadav. Dismissing the comment that Akhilesh Yadav wakes up late, Ram Gopal Yadav said, “I don’t react to mad people’s statements.”
