Filmmaker and television personality Karan Johar is set to return as the host of the second season of reality show The Traitors, which will begin streaming on Prime Video from August 13.
The upcoming season is produced by Dharmatic Entertainment and marks another collaboration with independent distributor All3Media International for the Indian adaptation of IDTV’s globally recognised BAFTA and Emmy Award-winning format.
The new season will feature 21 celebrity contestants competing for the grand prize and the title of the ultimate strategist. The show combines psychological gameplay, alliances, deception and challenges as participants attempt to identify hidden “traitors” among them.
Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals, Prime Video India, said the series has emerged as one of the platform’s most prominent reality franchises, bringing a different approach to the genre through strategy-driven entertainment.
He said the second season would feature higher stakes, sharper gameplay and a new group of contestants, while expressing excitement over Karan Johar’s return as the host and central figure guiding the game.
Sabrina Duguet, Executive Vice President, APAC, All3Media International, said the first season’s response reflected strong audience engagement and enthusiasm for the format. She added that the upcoming season would continue to focus on celebrity participation, intense competition and unpredictable gameplay.
The Dharmatic Entertainment team said the first season created significant interest among viewers by offering a reality format built around intelligence, strategy and emotional drama. The makers said the second edition would aim to deliver a bigger and more dramatic experience while retaining the show’s core elements.
Season two of The Traitors will premiere on August 13 on Prime Video, with new episodes released every Thursday.
