Indian boxer Mandengbam Jadumani Singh advanced to the men’s 55kg quarterfinals at the Commonwealth Games 2026 after registering a convincing 5-0 unanimous decision victory over Pakistan’s Rehman Sumama in the Round of 16 on Sunday.
Jadumani controlled the bout from the opening bell, displaying sharp combinations, effective movement and disciplined defence across all three rounds. His performance left his opponent with limited opportunities to fight back, as all five judges awarded the contest in the Indian boxer’s favour.
The official scorecard reflected Jadumani’s dominance, with three judges scoring the bout 30-27, while the remaining two gave a 29-28 verdict in his favour.
The win marked Jadumani’s second successive comprehensive victory in Glasgow. Earlier, he defeated Scotland’s Cullen in the Round of 32 with another 5-0 unanimous decision, making a strong start to his Commonwealth Games campaign.
With the latest victory, the Indian pugilist has secured a place in the quarterfinals, scheduled for July 28 at 7:45 pm local time. He will face the winner of the Round of 16 clash between Zambia and South Africa for a spot in the semifinals.
Jadumani’s composed performances in the opening rounds have positioned him as one of India’s key medal prospects in the men’s 55kg boxing category as the competition moves into the knockout stage.
