Ayodhya Ram Temple Offerings Case: Priests Say Supreme Court Verdict Will Protect Devotees’ Interests

Ayodhya, July 27, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Priests in Ayodhya on Monday expressed confidence in the judicial process ahead of the Supreme Court hearing in the alleged Ram Temple offerings theft case, saying any decision by the apex court would be in the interest of devotees and the saint community.

The Supreme Court is hearing four petitions seeking an investigation into alleged theft of cash offerings made at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple.

Mahant Acharya Sitaram Das Maharaj, head priest of Saket Bhavan, said the court had earlier directed the Central or state government to reconstitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and submit a report. He said the newly formed SIT would continue the probe and the process could take time.

“Since a new SIT has been formed on the directions of the court, the investigation will continue. I believe the process will take some time,” he said.

Mahamandaleshwar Vishnu Das Maharaj said the Supreme Court’s decision would be beneficial for Ram devotees and saints. He also criticised political reactions surrounding the case, alleging that attempts to use the issue for political gains would not succeed.

Jagadguru Paramahamsa Acharya, head of Tapasvi Chavani, said the court’s proceedings would ultimately serve the interests of the country and its culture. He added that no final decision was likely until the SIT submitted its investigation report.

The Supreme Court, on July 20, directed the Uttar Pradesh government to reconstitute a three-member SIT to investigate the matter. Following the order, the state government formed a new panel headed by Inspector General of Police (Lucknow Range) Kiran S., with Deputy Inspector General (Ayodhya) Somen Barma and Senior Superintendent of Police (Ayodhya) Gaurav Grover as members.

The apex court had asked that the ongoing investigation be placed under the supervision of the SIT that had earlier found prima facie evidence of alleged fraud.
