Veteran singer-composer Roop Kumar Rathod has opened up about his deep bond with nature, describing the jungle as much more than a place he visits.
Rathod took to Instagram to share a series of photographs featuring himself amid nature and several birds he spotted during his visit. Reflecting on the experience, the veteran musician said the quiet, mystery and freedom of the wilderness offer him a sense of peace away from the noise of everyday life.
“Away from the noise, surrounded by trees, birds and the whispers of the wild, I feel a different kind of peace. I don’t just visit the jungle… I belong to its silence, its mystery, and its freedom,” Rathod wrote in the caption.
Rathod has been associated with the music industry as a vocalist on several albums since 1999. His career includes notable songs such as “Sandese Aate Hai” from Border, “Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai” from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and “Maula Mere Maula” from Anwar.
He has also collaborated with musicians including Trilok Gurtu, Ranjit Barot and Abhijit Pohankar in fusion concerts.
In 2005, Rathod and his wife, singer Sunali Rathod, appeared in an episode of the comedy series Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai, which featured a friendly musical contest. The couple later released the Sufi album Kalma in 2011.
More recently, Rathod lent his voice to recreated versions of the classic songs “Jaate Hue Lamhon” and “Ghar Kab Aaoge” for Border 2, which released on January 23.
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 is presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series in association with J.P. Dutta’s J.P. Films, with Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta and Nidhi Dutta backing the project.
J.P. Dutta’s original Border was released in 1997 and featured an ensemble cast led by Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty and Akshaye Khanna.
