Ludhiana Lions produced a fine all-round performance to defeat Bathinda Royals by three wickets in a thrilling Sher-E-Punjab T20 League 2026 encounter at the I.S. Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Tuesday.
Arjun Rajput was the standout performer, making a decisive contribution with both bat and ball. He first claimed four wickets for 27 runs in four overs before smashing a match-winning 82 off 45 balls to guide Ludhiana to the 166-run target with three wickets in hand.
Bathinda Royals made a steady start after being put into bat, with their opening pair adding 46 runs. Harnoor Singh provided early momentum with a quick 38 off 19 balls, while Rishabh Gupta scored 9 off six deliveries.
After losing a few wickets, Bathinda recovered through Noorveer Singh and Dev Amritpal Singh, who put together a valuable 50-run partnership. However, Ludhiana’s bowlers struck regularly in the latter half of the innings, with Sahil Bhaskar taking three wickets and Rajput claiming four.
The Royals were eventually bowled out for 165.
Ludhiana’s chase began disastrously as Bathinda’s bowlers reduced them to 29/4 inside four overs. Abhijeet Garg attempted to rebuild the innings, scoring 28 off 22 balls, but was dismissed following an excellent piece of fielding by Imrozpreet Singh, leaving the Lions at 81/5 in the 10th over.
Rajput then took charge, finding a dependable partner in Krish Bhagat. The duo combined aggressive strokeplay with sharp running between the wickets and brought up a crucial 50-run partnership from just 34 balls.
Rajput eventually fell to Gourav Choudhary, who trapped him leg before wicket, but not before the all-rounder had struck eight fours and four sixes in his 82-run knock.
Bathinda briefly threatened another twist when Noorveer Singh took a superb diving catch to dismiss Madhav Pathania for 2 off nine balls, leaving Ludhiana needing 14 runs from 19 deliveries.
Krish Bhagat kept his composure, remaining unbeaten on 35 off 19 balls to steer Ludhiana Lions across the finish line and secure a memorable three-wicket victory.
