The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of the J&K Crime Branch on Wednesday filed a chargesheet against five accused in a case involving alleged fake appointments in the Education Department.
According to a statement issued by the Crime Branch, the EOW Kashmir presented the chargesheet before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Budgam, in FIR No. 36/2021 under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, 201 and 120-B of the RPC.
The accused have been identified as Nisar Ahmad Bhat of Iqbal Colony, Tral, Pulwama; Shakir Gull of Kachdoora, Shopian; Mohammad Ayaz Rather of Takipora, Ratnipora, Shopian; Sheikh Ruhail Ahmad of Kachdoora, Shopian; and Tanveer Ahmad Rather of Khudpora Mowgam, Anantnag.
The case originated from a communication received from the Director, School Education Kashmir, regarding three individuals who had joined as teachers in Zone Nagam, Charar-i-Sharief, Budgam, on the basis of purported transfer or adjustment orders allegedly issued by the Directorate.
During the investigation, the Crime Branch found that the questioned documents contained forged signatures, order numbers and dispatch or endorsement numbers. Records obtained from the ZEO Nagam and CEO Budgam also confirmed that Mohammad Ayaz Rather, Sheikh Ruhail Ahmad and Tanveer Ahmad Rather had been transferred or adjusted on the basis of the disputed documents.
Verification from the Directorate established that its order book had been closed on December 31, 2019, indicating that the order and endorsement numbers cited in the documents were fictitious. Investigators further found that the three individuals had never been appointed anywhere in the Education Department.
The investigation allegedly established that Nisar Ahmad Bhat, a teacher, and Shakir Gull acted as facilitators or intermediaries, while Bhat allegedly arranged the means and machinery used to fabricate and print forged official documents.
The Crime Branch said the allegations were found substantiated and the chargesheet was filed before the court for judicial determination.
The agency urged the public to remain vigilant against economic fraud and report suspicious activities to the SSP, EOW Kashmir. Complaints can also be submitted through the official email address provided by the Crime Branch.
