Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Nabin on Tuesday called on President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in what he described as a courtesy meeting.
Sharing details of the meeting on X, Nabin said the President’s guidance and commitment to public service provide renewed energy and inspiration to work for the country and society.
“Today, I paid a courtesy visit to the esteemed President Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji. Her natural demeanour and unwavering dedication to serving the nation teach us a great deal. Her guidance provides us with renewed energy and inspiration to continuously work for the upliftment of the country and society,” Nabin posted.
During the meeting, Nabin greeted the President with a traditional flower bouquet and shawl.
The meeting comes amid an ongoing political debate over possible reforms to caste-based reservations and proposals to examine economic criteria in the reservation framework.
Nabin, who was elected to the Rajya Sabha in April this year, has previously praised Murmu’s journey from a tribal background to becoming the country’s first citizen.
Speaking at an event in Telangana recently, the BJP president said Murmu’s life and achievements conveyed a strong message about India’s commitment to recognising and honouring its tribal citizens.
He described her elevation to the country’s highest constitutional office as significant, noting that she had faced considerable challenges, worked for social causes and eventually reached the highest office in the nation.
Nabin said Murmu’s journey represented recognition of the struggles and dignity of tribal communities and served as an inspiration for the country.
