More than 80 players participated in the District-Level Yogasana Sports Championship held in Ludhiana, where participants across age groups competed in various yogasana disciplines and demonstrated balance, concentration, discipline and physical fitness.
The championship was organised to promote yoga as a sport and encourage children and youngsters to adopt a healthy and disciplined lifestyle. Winners in different age categories were honoured with certificates and prizes for securing first, second and third positions.
District Yogasana Sports Association Secretary Sunil Kumar said the event was aimed at increasing interest in yoga among children and youngsters while encouraging them to follow a healthy and disciplined lifestyle. He said yoga contributes to physical fitness and also helps improve mental concentration and confidence.
Association president Inderjit Singh congratulated the winners, participants, coaches and parents. He said competitions of this nature help connect youngsters with yoga and sports and wished success to players selected for the upcoming state-level competition.
Among the prominent winners, Samreet Kaur and Dhruvam secured the top positions in the girls’ and boys’ categories respectively in the 8-10 years age group. Geetika and Savar Chopra topped the 10-12 years categories.
Shruti Guleria and Aarabh emerged winners in the 12-14 years categories, while Arnav Thakur won the 14-16 years boys’ category. Taisha topped the 16-18 years girls’ category, followed by Araaya Singal in the 18-21 years girls’ category.
Kishan won the 21-25 years boys’ category, while Mahima secured first position in the 25-30 years women’s category.
