More than 38,600 people have been shifted to safer locations and over 5,500 rescued from flood-hit areas as Gujarat continues extensive relief and rescue operations amid heavy monsoon rainfall affecting several parts of the state.
According to the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC), 38,653 people have been evacuated during the current monsoon season, while 5,547 stranded residents have been rescued.
To tackle the crisis, the state government has deployed 49 teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). The Indian Army has stationed six teams in Ahmedabad, Navsari and Valsad districts, while the Indian Air Force is conducting rescue operations in Vadodara. The Indian Coast Guard is carrying out aerial surveys and rescue missions in flood-affected areas of Navsari, Valsad and Tapi districts.
Coast Guard teams are also assisting evacuation efforts in Bilimora and Gandevi, where rising floodwaters have stranded residents.
Heavy rainfall continued in parts of north and central Gujarat. The SEOC reported that Deodar taluka in Banaskantha district received more than three inches of rain within two hours, while Bhabhar (Banaskantha), Dhansura (Aravalli), Lilia (Amreli) and Santalpur (Patan) recorded more than two inches during the same period.
Rescue teams remained active across several districts. SDRF personnel rescued residents from Pandor village in Valsad and Dharampuri in Navsari. In Ahmedabad district, three people trapped by floodwaters in Chaloda village were rescued with SDRF assistance, while 20 passengers stranded in a bus between Sarbhat and Badarkha villages were safely evacuated using a tractor.
Director General of Police Gyanendra Singh Malik is scheduled to review the flood situation and ongoing relief operations at the State Emergency Operations Centre in Gandhinagar.
Authorities said rescue and relief efforts are continuing as emergency agencies closely monitor the evolving weather situation across the state.
