Punjab Horticulture and Defence Services Welfare Minister Mohinder Bhagat has directed empanelled hospitals to prominently display details of treatments available under the Mukhya Mantri Sehat Yojna so that patients can easily identify facilities offering specialised care under the scheme.
The minister issued the directions while chairing a meeting of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti at Jalandhar Civil Hospital, where a series of projects aimed at improving patient facilities and healthcare infrastructure were also approved.
Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Varjeet Walia, Bhagat said the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, was according priority to strengthening the healthcare system. He said the Mukhya Mantri Sehat Yojna and Aam Aadmi Clinics were helping expand access to healthcare and creating new milestones in the state’s health sector.
He called for extensive awareness campaigns about the Sehat Yojna, particularly its empanelled hospitals and the treatments available at each facility. Under the scheme, patients can avail free treatment of up to Rs 10 lakh, he said.
Bhagat directed officials to ensure that boards carrying details of the scheme and available treatments were installed at all empanelled hospitals at the earliest.
The Rogi Kalyan Samiti approved several proposals for Jalandhar Civil Hospital. Officials were directed to prepare a detailed estimate for establishing an audiometry room for speech therapy. The committee also approved restarting the Jan Aushadhi Centre to make medicines available to patients at lower prices.
Other approved projects include a new training hall, mobile ambulances for congested areas, renovation of the waiting area, a children’s play area in the paediatric ward and a baby-feeding room in the maternity ward.
The minister also reviewed ongoing infrastructure works. Officials informed him that 80 per cent of the sewerage pipeline project had been completed, while 60 per cent of washroom renovation work was over.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Divya P., Civil Surgeon Dr Rajesh Garg, Medical Superintendent Dr Namita and representatives of various departments attended the meeting.
