Punjab Police on Tuesday conducted 552 raids across the state as part of its ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign against gangster networks, arresting 354 people and recovering three weapons, officials said.
The statewide operation entered its 217th day. Launched by Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, the campaign aims to make Punjab free of gangster-related activities. Police teams from all districts have been conducting coordinated operations with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab at identified and mapped locations linked to associates of gangsters.
With the latest arrests, the total number of people arrested under the campaign has reached 64,572.
Police also initiated preventive action against 177 individuals and arrested six proclaimed offenders during Tuesday’s operation.
The Punjab Police has appealed to the public to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and other criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946. Information can be provided anonymously.
Meanwhile, the police’s anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ continued for its 542nd day. Police arrested 83 alleged drug smugglers and recovered 11.3 kg of heroin, 5 kg of poppy husk, 326 intoxicant pills and ₹2,700 in suspected drug money.
The latest arrests have taken the total number of alleged drug smugglers arrested under the campaign to 76,484 in 542 days.
As part of its de-addiction efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded 12 people to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on Tuesday.
