Security forces have arrested two suspected terror associates in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district and recovered a pistol, 12 rounds of ammunition and a hand grenade from their possession, officials said on Tuesday.
The arrests were made during a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) conducted by the Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles and the 183 Battalion of the CRPF in the Yarwan forest area of CB Nath in Rajpora.
Acting on coordinated intelligence inputs, the security forces launched the operation in the forest area. During the search, the joint teams noticed two men emerging from the forest towards CB Nath village in a suspicious manner and apprehended them.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Latif Ahmad Deedad, son of Gh. Mohammad Deedad of Lassi Daban, and Aejaz Ahmad Bajad, son of Nazir Ahmad Bajad of Bun Kha Bamnoo.
A search of the two men led to the recovery of a pistol, 12 pistol rounds and a hand grenade. The suspects and the recovered arms and ammunition were taken into custody.
Police have registered FIR No. 118/2026 at Rajpora police station under Sections 7/25 of the Arms Act and Sections 13, 18, 23 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Further investigation is underway to determine the activities of the arrested individuals, trace the source of the recovered weapons and establish their possible links with wider terror networks.
Officials described the recovery as a significant operational success in efforts by Pulwama Police and security forces to disrupt terror networks and prevent terror-related activities in the district.
