Schools across Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddha Nagar district have stepped up precautionary measures following reports of an increase in swine flu and dengue cases, urging parents to prioritise children’s health and prevent infections from spreading.
School managements have advised parents not to send children to school if they develop symptoms such as fever, cough, cold or other flu-like signs. Parents have also been encouraged to ensure that sick children get adequate rest and seek medical advice when necessary rather than sending them to school to maintain attendance.
Schools are reinforcing hygiene practices among students, including regular handwashing, cleanliness and proper sanitation. Children are also being advised to avoid touching their eyes, nose and mouth unnecessarily.
Authorities have increased monitoring of classrooms and common areas and are paying particular attention to possible mosquito-breeding sites because of the dengue risk.
School staff are inspecting coolers, flower pots, rooftops and other areas where water could accumulate. Efforts are being made to prevent stagnant water from collecting on or around school premises, as it can provide breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
Parents have also been advised not to ignore persistent or worsening symptoms. Medical consultation has been recommended if children develop prolonged fever, extreme weakness, breathing difficulties or other serious symptoms.
School authorities said attendance remains important for education, but children’s health and safety must take priority. Sending an unwell child to school could expose both the child and other students to additional health risks.
Schools have emphasised that coordination among parents, educational institutions and health authorities will be important in limiting the spread of seasonal illnesses across the district.
