Actors Neena Gupta and Sumeet Vyas will headline ‘Chumbak’, a new comedy-drama series set to premiere on Netflix on August 28, the streaming platform announced on Friday.
The series is set in a contemporary urban Indian neighbourhood and revolves around a close-knit community where neighbours share each other’s joys, struggles and everyday chaos. It explores themes such as modern marriages, parenting, ageing friendships and community living through a multi-generational narrative.
Alongside Neena Gupta and Sumeet Vyas, the ensemble cast includes Deven Bhojani, Arjun Bijlani, Helly Shah, Manasi Parekh, Sandeepa Dhar, Sumeet Raghavan, Anant V. Joshi, Amyra Dastur, Delnaaz Irani and Atul Kumar.
Announcing the series, Tanya Bami, Series Head at Netflix India, said Chumbak is the platform’s latest offering in the comedy genre and aims to capture the warmth and dynamics of neighbourhood relationships that often evolve into extended families.
She said the series brings alive a world where everyday moments are filled with humour and emotion while addressing relatable aspects of contemporary life. Bami also praised creators JD and Aatish for their ability to blend comedy with heartfelt storytelling that resonates across generations.
Netflix described Chumbak as a celebration of community life, where no occasion is too small to be shared and no problem remains private for long. The streaming platform said the series combines humour with relatable family dynamics and neighbourhood relationships to create a warm and engaging viewing experience.
Chumbak will begin streaming on Netflix from August 28.
