CWG 2026: Arundhati Choudhary Enters 70kg Boxing Final

Glasgow, July 31, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

India’s Arundhati Choudhary assured the country of another boxing medal at the Commonwealth Games 2026 after defeating Wales’ Rosie Eccles to reach the women’s 70kg final on Friday.

Arundhati registered a convincing 4-0 split-decision victory in the semifinal, dominating the contest with sharp combinations, effective movement and consistent pressure across all three rounds. Her performance earned her the judges’ nod and a place in the gold medal bout.

With the victory, Arundhati became the latest Indian boxer to enter a Commonwealth Games final, extending India’s impressive run in boxing at the Glasgow Games. She will now compete for the gold medal in the final.

Her success further strengthens India’s medal tally and highlights the strong performance of the country’s boxing contingent at the Games.

Earlier in the day, Jaismine also secured a place in the women’s 57kg final after defeating Lesotho’s Rapelang Maselela via Referee Stops Contest (RSC) in the second round.

Jaismine dominated the bout from the outset with aggressive attacking, accurate combinations and swift footwork. After winning the opening round on all five judges’ scorecards, she intensified the pressure in the second round, forcing the referee to halt the contest.

India also celebrated success in the men’s competition as Ankush Panghal advanced to the 80kg final with a dominant 5-0 unanimous decision victory over Canada’s Joshua Ofori.

Ankush controlled the semifinal throughout, displaying composure and precision to record his third successive unanimous-decision win of the tournament. He will now aim to complete his campaign with a gold medal.
