Congress Launches Booth-Level Mobilisation Programme in Punjab Ahead of Assembly Polls

Chandigarh, July 31, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Congress on Friday launched a booth-level mobilisation campaign in Punjab ahead of the Assembly elections, with party leaders urging workers to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level.

Launching the ‘Har Booth, Mazboot’ campaign in Fatehgarh Sahib, Congress General Secretary and Punjab in-charge Bhupesh Baghel said the upcoming elections would be among the most important political contests for the state.

Baghel said the elections would determine Punjab’s future and claimed that Congress workers had faced intimidation, humiliation and political vendetta during the past five years.

“Workers are always the ones who suffer the most,” Baghel said while addressing booth-level workers.

Targeting the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab and the BJP-led government at the Centre, Baghel alleged that both parties believed in vendetta politics. He said Congress had never followed such politics and appealed to workers to work with determination to defeat both parties.

Claiming that the AAP government was losing public support, Baghel said Congress was the only alternative before the people of Punjab. He predicted a multi-cornered contest in the upcoming elections involving Congress, BJP, AAP, Shiromani Akali Dal and Waris Punjab De.

He told party workers that the organisation’s success would depend on their efforts at the booth level.

Referring to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Baghel said the elections would be a battle of principles and ideology. He alleged that the unity, brotherhood, harmony and constitutional values of the country were under threat.

Baghel also criticised the state government over law and order and drug-related issues, claiming that criminals were operating without fear in Punjab.

Addressing the gathering, Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring said the AAP government was on its way out. He alleged that the government depended heavily on publicity and claimed that it would collapse if advertising support stopped.

Warring said the Congress was united despite differences of opinion among leaders, which he described as a normal part of any political organisation.

He also targeted reports of factionalism within Congress, claiming that media discussions focused on internal differences while ignoring alleged defections and political developments involving AAP leaders.

Expressing gratitude to the party leadership, Warring said he remained committed to Congress and acknowledged senior leaders including Partap Singh Bajwa, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Charanjit Singh Channi.
