Aam Aadmi Party’s Chief Whip Prof. Baljinder Kaur on Friday said the Punjab Government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has fulfilled its promises made to the people and worked for the welfare of every section of society during the last four-and-a-half years.
Speaking to mediapersons in Bathinda, Prof. Baljinder Kaur said the state government has given priority to the interests of sanitation workers and is seriously considering their pending demands, which will be addressed in a phased manner.
She said that since the AAP government came to power in 2022, several public welfare schemes have been implemented with the aim of improving the lives of people across Punjab.
Prof. Baljinder Kaur said the government has fulfilled the commitments made to Punjabis and highlighted initiatives including the provision of 300 units of free electricity per month for domestic consumers. She claimed that more than 80 per cent of electricity consumers were receiving zero bills under the scheme.
She said the government has also worked for farmers by improving irrigation facilities and ensuring regular power supply for agricultural activities.
Highlighting healthcare initiatives, Prof. Baljinder Kaur said free treatment up to ₹10 lakh is being provided in government hospitals. She added that government hospitals are now providing free knee and hip replacement surgeries, while Aam Aadmi Clinics are offering free medicines and diagnostic tests.
She also mentioned the government’s education reforms, including the School of Eminence initiative and training programmes for teachers. She said legislators are regularly visiting government schools in their respective constituencies to improve educational standards.
Prof. Baljinder Kaur further said women are also being provided financial assistance under the Maiyan Dhiian Satkar Yojana.
Mayor Municipal Corporation Bathinda Padamjit Singh Mehta and Sugarfed Chairman and Bathinda Lok Sabha constituency in-charge Navdeep Singh Jeeda were also present on the occasion.
