With student safety emerging as a key consideration for families choosing higher education institutions, Lovely Professional University (LPU) has highlighted its technology-driven security infrastructure designed to provide a safe and secure learning environment for its campus community.
The university said it has developed a comprehensive, multi-layered security ecosystem that integrates advanced surveillance technology, trained personnel and institutional policies to safeguard more than 35,000 students studying on its campus.
According to LPU, the campus is monitored through more than 7,200 CCTV cameras supported by over 200 professionally trained security personnel and dedicated control rooms that function round the clock. Access to the campus is regulated through AI-enabled facial recognition systems, turnstile gates and boom barriers, ensuring entry only to authorised individuals while tracking movement across key locations.
The university also emphasised its strict enforcement of the University Grants Commission (UGC) anti-ragging regulations. Dedicated anti-ragging committees and squads, awareness campaigns, orientation programmes, complaint redressal mechanisms and continuous monitoring have been put in place to ensure a harassment-free campus. LPU said any violation attracts prompt disciplinary as well as legal action.
Beyond physical security, the university maintains a drug-free, alcohol-free and smoke-free campus. Security personnel remain deployed round the clock to prevent the entry of narcotics and other prohibited substances, while regular surveillance and enforcement measures are aimed at maintaining a healthy and disciplined academic environment.
To strengthen emergency response capabilities, LPU operates an in-house fire station equipped with a fire engine, trained firefighters and modern firefighting infrastructure. The university said its security network is further supported by advanced surveillance gadgets, trained ex-servicemen, dedicated women security personnel for girls’ hostels and continuous campus patrolling.
LPU also highlighted its EduRevolution initiative, which integrates technology, entrepreneurship and experiential learning into academics. Through its “Earn Your Fee Back” programme, students are provided opportunities to earn while studying through internships, live projects, startups and entrepreneurial ventures.
The university said that by combining advanced security infrastructure with student-centric academic initiatives, it aims to create an environment where students can pursue learning, innovation and personal development with confidence.
