Chandigarh, July 15, 2026
Chandigarh Member of Parliament and former Union Minister Manish Tewari dedicated several development projects to the public as part of his continued efforts to improve civic infrastructure in the city. On the occasion, he inaugurated a newly constructed shed at Krishna Market in Sector 41 and newly installed solar lights in Ram Darbar. Both projects were funded through grants released from his Members of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) Fund.
Addressing the gathering, MP Tewari said that while providing basic civic amenities is primarily the responsibility of the Municipal Corporation, he has been allocating funds from his MPLAD quota to support development projects based on the needs and demands of local residents. He added that several such projects are currently underway across Chandigarh with financial assistance from the MPLAD Fund.
Tewari emphasized that development is not achieved through mere promises; it must be visible on the ground. He said he believes in delivering tangible results rather than making hollow claims, and the completed projects are clear evidence of that commitment. The newly installed shed at Krishna Market will provide much-needed relief and convenience to shopkeepers, vendors, and visitors, while the solar lights in Ram Darbar will help eliminate dark spots, improve public safety, and enhance the overall quality of life in the area.
On the occasion, Chandigarh Congress President H.S. Lucky and other dignitaries expressed their gratitude to MP Manish Tewari for sanctioning funds for the city’s development. Lucky said that the Congress believes in the politics of development and added that many of Chandigarh’s landmark development works were carried out during Congress administrations.
Among those present at the events were Hardeep Singh Butrela, Chandramukhi Sharma, Om Prakash, Ishwar Chand Goyal, Sonia Gurcharan Singh, Gurcharan Singh, and a large number of local residents.
