Iran Strikes US Bases in Gulf in Retaliation for American Attacks

Tehran, September 2, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has said it launched strikes against US military bases and assets in the region in retaliation for American attacks on southern Iranian provinces that reportedly killed at least five people and wounded more than 50.

In a statement published by its official Sepah News outlet on Tuesday night, the IRGC said its response against the United States had begun and claimed that Iranian air defence systems had shot down a US MQ-9 Reaper drone.

The IRGC’s aerospace forces also launched ballistic missile and drone attacks targeting Camp Titin in Jordan and Shaikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain. The force claimed that a large number of US troops were killed and several key facilities and combat helicopters destroyed. These claims could not be independently verified.

The IRGC warned that US strikes would further prolong the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and said the Iranian armed forces would become more determined to confront foreign military forces operating in the strategic waterway.

According to the IRGC, the Iranian retaliation followed US strikes on civilian locations along Iran’s southern coast. It also described the alleged US attack on a wedding ceremony in Hormozgan province as a deadly and “criminal” act.

Jordan’s Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said its air defence systems intercepted and destroyed 10 of 13 ballistic missiles that entered Jordanian airspace from Iran on Tuesday evening. The remaining three missiles fell in remote areas away from population centres, with no casualties reported, according to the JAF.

Iranian semi-official Fars news agency quoted Hormozgan Deputy Governor for Political and Security Affairs Ahmad Nafisi as saying that at least five people, including a four-year-old child and a woman, were killed and more than 50 wounded in the alleged US attack on a wedding ceremony in Sirik county.

Multiple explosions were reported across southern Iran, including in Sirik, Bandar Abbas, Qeshm and Jask in Hormozgan province, as well as locations in Sistan and Baluchestan, Kerman and Bushehr provinces.

US Central Command announced on social media that it had begun strikes against IRGC targets.

Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, the country’s main military command, said the Iranian armed forces would respond to the US “air aggression” with what it called “crushing and shattering” blows against American forces.
