Punjab Police conducted 639 raids across the state on Monday as part of its ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign against gangsters and their associates, arresting 422 individuals and recovering four weapons.
The operation marked the 223rd day of the campaign, which was launched by Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, with the objective of making Punjab a gangster-free state.
Police teams from all districts, in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, carried out special operations at identified and mapped locations linked to gangster associates.
On Day 223, preventive action was also taken against 197 individuals, while one Proclaimed Offender (PO) was arrested. With Monday’s arrests, the total number of persons arrested under the campaign has reached 66,837.
Punjab Police has urged people to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters, crime and criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946. The information can be provided anonymously.
Meanwhile, the state police continued its anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, for the 548th consecutive day.
Police arrested 55 alleged drug smugglers on Monday and recovered 2.4 kg of heroin, 28 kg of opium, 75 intoxicant pills and Rs 15,650 in suspected drug money from their possession.
With these arrests, the total number of alleged drug smugglers arrested under the campaign has risen to 76,756 in 548 days.
As part of its de-addiction efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded eight individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on Monday.
