Hoshiarpur MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa felicitated special athletes Sagar and Amandeep Kaur at a ceremony organised by Aatmsukh Aatmdev Aashram (For Living Gods), Hoshiarpur, and praised their achievements on the international sporting stage.
Sagar represented India at the Special Olympics Unified Football World Cup Paris 2026, held in Paris from July 4 to 12, and won a silver medal. Amandeep Kaur represented India at the FIH Para Hockey World Cup 2026, held in Belgium and the Netherlands from August 18 to 25.
During the ceremony, Jimpa placed the silver medal around Sagar’s neck and presented Amandeep Kaur with a Certificate of Honour for representing India at the para hockey World Cup. The achievements of both athletes were applauded by those present.
Jimpa also distributed monthly financial assistance cheques totalling ₹22,250 to 11 special children and their parents associated with the ashram.
Appreciating the institution’s work, Jimpa said Aatmsukh Aatmdev Aashram was providing special children with care, confidence, training and opportunities to recognise and develop their abilities. He said the institution’s efforts were helping its students pursue excellence at the national and international levels.
Jimpa said the achievements of Sagar and Amandeep Kaur were a matter of pride not only for Hoshiarpur and Punjab but for the entire country. Their participation and performances at international events, he said, demonstrated that special children are second to none when provided with appropriate opportunities, training and encouragement.
He congratulated both athletes and the ashram, wishing them continued success.
Ashram president Navdeep Sud thanked Jimpa for attending the programme and said his presence and encouragement had boosted the morale of the children. He described the achievements of Sagar and Amandeep Kaur as an inspiration for other special children and said their success showed that love, trust, opportunity and encouragement can help them achieve excellence on the world stage.
