A property dealer was allegedly shot dead following an altercation during a late-night liquor party in Karaudichak village under the Phulwari Sharif police station area of Patna, police said.
The deceased was identified as Golu Yadav. Preliminary information suggests that four to five youths had gathered in an open area near a religious site for the party when an argument broke out between Golu and one of the other participants.
The dispute reportedly escalated, after which one of the youths allegedly pulled out a pistol and fired four rounds at Golu. He died at the spot. The accused and others present at the gathering reportedly fled immediately after the shooting.
Police reached the scene after receiving information about the incident and took the body into custody before sending it for post-mortem examination.
Investigators are questioning local residents, identifying everyone who attended the gathering and conducting searches at suspected locations to locate the accused and recover the weapon allegedly used in the crime.
Police are examining multiple possible angles, as the exact motive behind the killing has not yet been established. Golu was reportedly involved in property dealing and land transactions.
According to his family, Golu had left home in the evening. When he did not return late at night, his relatives began looking for him and later learned that he had been killed.
The incident has caused fear and tension in Karaudichak village.
An FIR has been registered at Phulwari Sharif police station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.
