BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Tuesday said the party would respond firmly, while maintaining its dignity, to the language used by the Leader of Opposition against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing the extended executive meeting of the BJP’s Andhra Pradesh unit in Visakhapatnam, Nabin accused the Opposition of promoting anti-social elements and alleged that the Congress had repeatedly insulted democratic institutions.
“We also need to keep today’s political situation in mind. Today, we are faced with an opposition that has such a mindset, which is trying to promote anti-social elements in the country,” he said.
Nabin criticised the Opposition’s conduct in Parliament and alleged that Congress leaders had displayed disrespect towards democracy, including through their conduct on Independence Day.
“BJP workers are known for their dignity and values, but the way the Leader of the Opposition has used words for PM Modi, we must give a sharp response while staying within our dignity,” he said.
The BJP president said his party’s vision was centred on social harmony, while alleging that the Congress had chosen a different path by repeatedly targeting democratic institutions. He also described Rahul Gandhi as a “part-time politician” and alleged that he focused on issues that diverted attention from matters of faith and development.
Nabin called upon BJP leaders to maintain continuous dialogue with young people and understand their aspirations and concerns. He said initiatives such as Make in India had created new opportunities for the country’s youth.
“Youth means being committed to nation-building. Bharat’s youth are not merely seeking jobs; through startups, they are creating jobs and opportunities for others,” he said.
He urged party workers to take the government’s schemes, achievements and BJP programmes directly to people through sustained public outreach.
“As long as we maintain dialogue, contact and a strong connection with the people, we will continue to succeed in contributing to the development of Bharat and the growth of the BJP,” he said.
Nabin said India was progressing across sectors under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and claimed that infrastructure projects worth more than Rs 8 lakh crore were currently underway. He said the Prime Minister’s vision was to build India with world-class infrastructure and transform it into a global manufacturing hub.
He said the BJP government was committed to realising the vision of “Viksit Bharat”, drawing on Shyama Prasad Mukherjee’s nationalism, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s Antyodaya and Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s good governance.
During his Andhra Pradesh visit, Nabin also met state office-bearers, district presidents and district in-charges along with state BJP president P.V.N. Madhav. Discussions focused on strengthening the organisation and improving coordination and public outreach across the state.
Describing Andhra Pradesh as a state leading the country on the development front, Nabin said the BJP’s organisational efforts must continue through regular engagement with people to ensure that government schemes reach every citizen.
Nabin also hoisted the BJP flag and said it symbolised the collective responsibility of party workers to uphold its ideals and values through dedication, discipline and a spirit of service while working towards a “Viksit Bharat”.
He later visited the State BJP exhibition showcasing the party’s organisational journey over the past year across all 28 districts. The exhibition highlighted public-service initiatives, organisational expansion and the work of BJP workers, Nabin said.
