‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 18’ is set to celebrate India’s sporting achievements with Commonwealth Games 2026 medallists Lovlina Borgohain, Asmita Dey, Jhandu Kumar and Sharmila Dhankar appearing on the quiz-based reality show alongside host Amitabh Bachchan.
The upcoming episode will bring the athletes to the KBC hotseat, highlighting their sporting journeys, struggles and achievements on a national platform.
Para-athlete Sharmila Dhankar spoke about the challenges faced by athletes away from the spotlight and said appearing on KBC felt like recognition of those struggles.
“As a para-athlete, you spend years training far away from the spotlight, quietly overcoming physical and societal hurdles that very few people ever witness. Being invited to KBC feels like a national celebration of those invisible struggles,” Dhankar said.
She added that interacting with Amitabh Bachchan was deeply encouraging and said the show had demonstrated that determination could help overcome major obstacles.
Boxer Lovlina Borgohain, who won silver in the 75 kg category, will also take the hotseat. She compared the pressure of appearing on KBC with competing in an Olympic boxing ring.
“I honestly thought nothing in the world could match the adrenaline and pressure of stepping into an Olympic boxing ring, until I sat on the KBC Hotseat across from Mr. Amitabh Bachchan sir,” Borgohain said.
Jhandu Kumar, who won India’s first medal at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games in men’s heavyweight para-powerlifting, will share his sporting journey and experiences of training as a para-athlete.
He said hearing Bachchan speak about the athletes’ determination and hard work gave him renewed motivation to push boundaries and continue making India proud.
Asmita Dey, meanwhile, reflected on her childhood memories of watching KBC with her family. The judoka said appearing on the show alongside Bachchan was a surreal experience and an opportunity to showcase her sport and journey to audiences across the country.
“Sharing this space with Amitabh sir is not just a personal dream come true; it’s a proud moment for Indian Judo,” Dey said.
