Chandigarh, August 18, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Punjab BJP State President Kewal Singh Dhillon has urged Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh L. Mandaviya to establish an Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Sub-Regional Office in Bathinda to improve access to services for beneficiaries across the Malwa region.
Dhillon has forwarded a representation submitted by the ESIC Employees’ Union, Punjab Region, Chandigarh, to the Union Minister and extended his support to the demand. He said the need for a dedicated ESIC sub-regional office in Malwa has existed for a long time.
According to Dhillon, lakhs of insured workers, pensioners, employers and other ESIC beneficiaries from Bathinda, Mansa, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Barnala, Faridkot, Fazilka and adjoining areas currently have to travel to distant offices for ESIC-related services.
He said these journeys add to the time and financial burden of beneficiaries and can create difficulties, particularly when they need to access essential services repeatedly.
Dhillon requested Mandaviya to consider and approve the establishment of the ESIC Sub-Regional Office in Bathinda in the interest of workers, pensioners, employers and other beneficiaries in the Malwa region.
He said locating the office in Bathinda would bring ESIC services closer to a large population in the region and reduce the need for beneficiaries to make repeated visits to offices located far from their homes.
