Jalandhar is set to host the Punjab Youth Run 2026 on Sunday, August 23, following the enthusiastic response to the initiative in Mohali. The event is being organised under the “Hasda, Kheda Ate Rangla Punjab” campaign.
Addressing a press conference, Aam Aadmi Party Punjab Youth Wing state vice-president Bir Davinder Singh said the initiative was launched from Mohali and attracted participants across age groups. He said the previous event saw participation ranging from a five-year-old child to an 85-year-old senior citizen, highlighting the message that fitness and sports have no age barrier.
He said the Jalandhar edition was being organised in line with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s vision of a “Rangla Punjab” and would seek to promote fitness, sports and an active lifestyle among people.
The 5-km run will begin at 6 a.m. from Shivani Park in Model Town, Jalandhar. Participants from all age groups will be eligible to take part.
The organisers said the programme will include recreational and fun activities in addition to the marathon. Around 40 cash prizes have also been announced to encourage participation and add to the competitive spirit of the event.
People interested in participating can register by scanning the QR code displayed on the event board or the QR code available on the organisers’ official social media page.
The organisers said the initiative aims to promote fitness, positivity and an active lifestyle across Punjab while contributing to the vision of a healthy and vibrant state.
The press conference was attended by Jalandhar Mayor Vinit Dhir, Halqa In-charge Nitin Kohli, Punjab Khadi & Village Industries Board chairman Kaku Ahluwalia, Youth Wing urban president Rubal Sandhu, rural president Gagandeep, Gurpreet Bains, Sanjeev Chowdhary, Hardeep Harry, district vice-president Balkaran Singh, Halqa Central coordinator Rishabh Sahota, Halqa Cantt coordinator Jagraj Singh, Halqa North coordinator Inderjeet Singh, district joint secretary Manpreet Singh and district joint secretary Neeraj Shubh, besides other party leaders and office-bearers.
