Music composer and singer Akhil Sachdeva has spoken about the contrast between his reserved personality in private life and his confident, energetic persona on stage, saying he feels completely at home while performing before a live audience.
Sachdeva, who composed the song ‘Piya Ghar Aaya – Homecoming’ for the recently released Emraan Hashmi-starrer ‘Awarapan 2’, spoke about his personality and approach to life in an interaction with IANS following the film’s release.
The composer said that while he is naturally shy and prefers to maintain a private life away from the stage, performing before an audience brings out a completely different side of him.
“I’m not shy on stage. If you’ve seen me on stage, I’m the king. I perform like a lion. Otherwise, I’m a very private person. I don’t socialise too much. I’m shy, that’s my nature,” he said.
Describing himself as someone who does not believe in living a life of moderation, Sachdeva said he embraces both sides of his personality.
“I think I don’t live in mediocrity. I’m extreme. Either I’m here or there. Those two things work for me,” he said.
The composer added that after spending years working hard, he now wants to follow his instincts and pursue projects that genuinely resonate with him.
“I want to do what’s in my heart. I know that I’m not doing anything wrong. I’m a very pure person. I do things with a pure heart. I do it with love. I don’t hurt anyone. I take care of that too,” Sachdeva said.
He further emphasised the importance of trusting one’s instincts and working with sincerity.
“When you work with so much goodness, you shouldn’t be afraid of anything. I listen to my heart. I have a lot of hearts in my body. I work with my heart,” he added.
‘Awarapan 2’ is the sequel to the 2007 film ‘Awarapan’, with Emraan Hashmi returning as Shivam Pandit. Although the original film did not perform strongly at the box office upon release, it developed a loyal following over the years, particularly for its music and Hashmi’s performance, eventually attaining cult status.
‘Awarapan 2’ is currently running in theatres.
