Punjab Police conducted 537 raids across the state on Tuesday as part of its ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign against gangster networks, arresting 295 people and recovering seven weapons.
The campaign, launched by Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, has completed 210 days. Police teams from all districts are carrying out targeted operations in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab at locations identified as being linked to gangsters and their associates.
With Tuesday’s arrests, the total number of people arrested under the campaign has reached 61,877. Police also initiated preventive action against 198 individuals and arrested five proclaimed offenders during the latest operation.
The police have urged citizens to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and criminal activities anonymously through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Police continued its anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered its 535th day. Police arrested 63 alleged drug smugglers and recovered 1.6 kg of heroin, 299 intoxicant pills and Rs 500 in drug money during the latest operation.
The total number of drug smugglers arrested since the campaign began has now reached 76,015.
As part of its de-addiction efforts, the police also persuaded seven individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on Tuesday.
