Jammu, August 18, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Security forces launched coordinated search operations across three districts of Jammu division on Tuesday following separate reports of suspicious movement, officials said.
Joint teams of the police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) carried out searches in parts of Udhampur, Reasi and Kathua districts amid heightened security surveillance.
In Udhampur, a joint police-CRPF team launched a cordon-and-search operation in Talot village after two suspicious persons were reportedly seen in the area late Monday night.
According to officials, the two men, who were wearing shawls, repeatedly knocked on the door of local resident Prakash Chand and sought food. The family did not open the door and alerted security personnel after the two left towards Khuban.
Following the information, security forces cordoned off the area and began searches to trace the suspected persons. Search operations were also conducted in the Jophar-Ramnagar forest stretches and the Majalta sector of Udhampur.
In Reasi district, security forces searched the Sadini forest area following reports of suspected movement.
Meanwhile, several villages near the International Border in the Hiranagar sector of Kathua were searched as part of the security operation.
Officials said the searches were continuing and further details would emerge as the operations progressed. Senior officers, including the DIG of the Udhampur-Reasi Range and SSP Udhampur, are supervising the operations, which include intensive vehicle checks and combing of forest areas.
Similar search operations are also underway in Poonch and Rajouri districts after local residents reported suspicious movement there two days ago.
