The Punjab Government has ordered the transfers/postings of four IAS officers with immediate effect on administrative grounds, assigning additional responsibilities to senior officers and changing the Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar.
According to the orders issued by Chief Secretary K.A.P. Sinha, Varun Roojam, IAS (2004), presently Administrative Secretary, Transport, will continue in the same post and has also been given the additional charge of Administrative Secretary, Sports & Youth Services, against a vacant post.
Sakshi Sawhney, IAS (2014), presently Special Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, with additional charges as Mission Director, National Health Mission, Punjab, and Nodal Officer, Anti-Drug Campaign, will retain these responsibilities. She has additionally been posted as Director, Sports & Youth Services, against a vacant post.
Sandeep Rishi, IAS (2015), presently Chief Administrator, Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA), SAS Nagar, will continue in that position and has been given the additional charge of Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar, in place of Nikas Kumar, IAS.
Nikas Kumar, IAS (2020), presently Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar, has been transferred and posted as Additional Secretary, General Administration & Coordination.
The government has directed all the officers concerned to join their new places of posting immediately. The orders were issued on August 11, 2026.
