Tarun Chugh, National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party, today expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for granting an industrial hub to Punjab in Rajpura.
Chugh said the prime minister’s vision of reviving industry in Punjab would be fulfilled soon when Rajpura emerges as a new industrial hub.
He said under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP) a new era of industrialisation would be launched in the country.
He stated that the Prime Minister’s visionary leadership has led to the approval of 12 world-class greenfield industrial smart cities, a decision that is set to reshape India’s industrial landscape and position the nation on a path of unprecedented economic growth and innovation.
These cities, strategically located along the Golden Quadrilateral highway, symbolize a “grand necklace” of progress that will propel India toward becoming a global economic powerhouse by forming a network of industrial hubs aimed at boosting economic growth and global competitiveness.
Chugh expressed special gratitude to the Prime Minister for the inclusion of Rajpura in Punjab, one of the key cities in this initiative, which exemplifies the transformative potential of this project. Located near Chandigarh, Rajpura’s industrial smart city is projected to create over 64,000 direct jobs, with an investment of 1,367 crores rupees, providing a substantial boost to local employment and livelihoods.
Rajpura is poised to become a significant hub of economic activity and a beacon of progress for the region. This project aligns with the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan, which emphasizes multi-modal connectivity infrastructure for the seamless movement of people, goods, and services.
Chugh also remarked, “This approval of 12 industrial smart cities under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP) marks a significant step forward in India’s journey toward a self-reliant and globally competitive future.
These greenfield projects, spanning 10 states and integrating into six major industrial corridors, are designed to set new global benchmarks in infrastructure, sustainability, and economic vitality.
By positioning India as a strong player in Global Value Chains (GVC), the NICDP facilitates strategic investments from both large anchor industries and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The goal is to achieve $2 trillion in exports by 2030, in line with the government’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat.'”
Chugh further stated, “The approval of these industrial smart cities is a testament to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a prosperous India. As these projects take shape, they promise to redefine our industrial future, position India as a global manufacturing powerhouse, and stand as beacons of growth and innovation for generations to come.”
