Punjab Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian on Tuesday handed over appointment letters to five newly recruited officials of the Fisheries Department, aimed at strengthening technical services and research capabilities in the state’s fisheries sector.
The appointment letters were presented during a ceremony held at the Punjab Civil Secretariat in Chandigarh. The newly appointed officials include one Junior Engineer, three Laboratory Technicians and one Laboratory Assistant.
Congratulating the recruits, Khudian urged them to perform their duties with dedication, honesty and commitment. He said officials working in the fisheries sector have an important role in supporting rural development and strengthening an area with significant potential for Punjab’s agricultural economy.
The minister said the recruitments reflected the state government’s focus on transparent and merit-based selection. He added that the appointments were not merely about filling vacancies but about building a more efficient administration with improved technical expertise and research support.
Khudian said the Fisheries Department had so far filled 50 vacancies, including 22 posts of Fisheries Officers, to improve monitoring and management of aquaculture and inland fisheries activities across Punjab.
He said the Bhagwant Mann-led government had provided more than 68,000 government jobs across various departments since assuming office, adding that efforts were being made to provide employment opportunities to eligible youth and strengthen public services.
Senior officials of the Fisheries Department, including Director Hardev Singh, were also present during the appointment ceremony.
