Punjab Provided Nearly 69,000 Government Jobs on Merit Without Paper Leaks, Says CM Bhagwant Mann

New Delhi, July 28, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday asserted that his government has recruited nearly 69,000 candidates to government jobs purely on merit without any examination paper leaks, rejecting allegations made by the BJP, the Congress and the Shiromani Akali Dal.

Speaking to mediapersons during his visit to Parliament, where he met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav and other Members of Parliament, Mann accused opposition parties of attempting to tarnish the image of Punjab and its youth through what he described as baseless allegations.

The Chief Minister said his government has completed four-and-a-half years in office without a single examination paper leak in the state. He maintained that all government recruitments had been conducted transparently, without recommendations or monetary influence.

Referring to a recent pharmacy examination, Mann said the incident involved an attempt at cheating rather than a paper leak. According to him, authorities detected within minutes of the examination that a candidate was allegedly using a Bluetooth-enabled pen and an earpiece to receive answers from an external network. He said Punjab Police acted promptly, arresting 10 candidates along with members of an alleged gang involved in the operation.

Mann added that the examination fell under the Health Department and that the Health Minister had already clarified there was no paper leak. He said the cheating attempt was immediately foiled and the examination concluded successfully.

Highlighting the state’s recruitment process, the Chief Minister said Punjab follows a policy of appointments based solely on merit, claiming that around 68,855 government jobs have been provided without corruption or political influence.

He also criticised the BJP and the Shiromani Akali Dal over their attacks on the state government, urging political rivals to address their own issues instead of targeting Punjab. Mann said ideological differences are a part of democracy but should not become personal divisions.
