Punjab Police on Tuesday carried out 593 raids across the state as part of its ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign against gangster networks, resulting in the arrest of 366 individuals and the recovery of four weapons.
The special operation entered its 189th day, with police teams from all districts working in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab to target locations linked to gangster associates.
According to police officials, the campaign was launched by Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, with the objective of making Punjab free from organised criminal networks.
With Tuesday’s arrests, the total number of people arrested since the launch of the campaign has reached 53,891, police said. Preventive action was also taken against 203 individuals, while six proclaimed offenders were arrested during the operation.
Punjab Police urged citizens to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline number 93946-93946. Officials said information provided through the helpline can be shared anonymously.
Meanwhile, the state police continued its anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered its 514th day. Police arrested 93 alleged drug smugglers during the drive and recovered 1.5 kg heroin, 8 kg poppy husk, 235 intoxicant tablets and ₹14,240 in suspected drug money.
With these latest arrests, the total number of drug smugglers arrested under the campaign has reached 74,887, police said.
As part of its de-addiction initiative, Punjab Police also encouraged 11 individuals to undergo rehabilitation and treatment for substance abuse on Tuesday.
The police said both campaigns are focused on strengthening law enforcement action against organised crime and drug trafficking while encouraging public participation in crime prevention.
