India’s Harsh Singh produced a commanding display to capture the men’s 60kg judo gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2026, overpowering Australia’s Joshua Katz 10-0 in a one-sided final on Friday.
Harsh dominated the title bout from the outset, combining sharp attacking moves with disciplined defence to deny his Australian opponent any opportunity to score. Establishing an early lead, the Indian judoka maintained complete control throughout the contest before sealing a comprehensive 10-0 victory.
The emphatic triumph capped an outstanding campaign for Harsh, whose tactical awareness, speed and precision made him one of the standout performers in the competition. The gold medal further strengthened India’s medal tally in Glasgow and reinforced the country’s growing stature in judo at the Commonwealth Games.
With Harsh’s victory, India’s overall medal count at the Games rose to 19, comprising five gold, 10 silver and four bronze medals.
Born on May 24, 2003, Harsh Singh has emerged as one of India’s leading judokas through a series of consistent performances in domestic competitions and national selection events. His success has earned him regular appearances on the International Judo Federation (IJF) World Tour, where he has represented India at prestigious tournaments including the Tokyo Grand Slam, Asian Championships and Grand Prix events.
Harsh became the second Indian judoka to win a gold medal at the Glasgow Games after Asmita Dey claimed the women’s 48kg title. Dey defeated Canada’s Heidi Quach 2-1 in a closely contested final, giving Indian judo a memorable double triumph at the Commonwealth Games.
The twin gold medals underline the steady rise of Indian judo on the international stage and provide another significant boost to the country’s campaign in Glasgow.
