Actor Ram Kapoor has apologised to fellow Lock Upp contestant Pam following a heated confrontation on the reality show, admitting that his behaviour had been aggressive and intimidating and expressing regret over the incident.
Approaching Pam to make amends, Ram said he wanted to apologise sincerely and explained that one of the key reasons behind his decision was his son, who is watching the show.
He said he did not want his son to see him speaking aggressively to a woman without taking responsibility for his actions, adding that he wanted to set the right example by acknowledging his mistake.
Ram also expressed hope that the incident would not affect their friendship outside the show, saying he wished to remain in touch with Pam after the competition and believed that honest apologies could strengthen relationships.
Responding to the apology, Pam said she had often felt that Ram never supported her despite the respect she had always shown him. She also remarked that, as a respected public figure, he should not allow himself to be influenced by the behaviour of others.
Ram acknowledged that he had allowed himself to be influenced by fellow contestant Varun during the argument and admitted he had lost control of the situation.
Recalling the incident, Pam said Ram had followed her into a corridor, shouted at her at close range and behaved in a manner that left her feeling frightened and uncomfortable.
Accepting responsibility, Ram said he was aware that he could sometimes become overly aggressive, although he insisted such behaviour had not previously occurred with women. He reiterated that apologising was the only appropriate response.
Pam accepted the apology but requested that Ram avoid intervening in her disagreements with other contestants in the future. Ram apologised once again before the two shared a hug, bringing the tense episode to a close.
The confrontation had earlier drawn the intervention of fellow contestant Akanksha Chamola, who asked Ram not to intimidate Pam and reminded him that no woman should be made to feel uncomfortable under any circumstances.
