Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka on Saturday to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for a series of major infrastructure, energy, technology and connectivity projects aimed at boosting economic growth, improving transportation networks and promoting regional development.
The Prime Minister’s first stop will be Andhra Pradesh, where he will inaugurate the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram. Developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model at a cost of over ₹5,640 crore, the Greenfield airport has an annual passenger handling capacity of six million and is expected to strengthen tourism, trade, investment and employment in the region.
Ahead of the visit, Modi said the airport would serve as a modern, sustainable and energy-efficient facility that would significantly improve connectivity while promoting commerce and tourism.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for Andhra Pradesh’s first semiconductor manufacturing facility under the India Semiconductor Mission. The ₹460-crore ASIP Semiconductor Project in Visakhapatnam is expected to produce nearly 96 million semiconductor chips annually while generating skilled employment and supporting the growth of a semiconductor ecosystem in the state.
In the renewable energy sector, Modi will launch and dedicate multiple transmission infrastructure projects exceeding ₹9,900 crore. These include the transmission system for the Kurnool-IV Renewable Energy Zone, transmission networks for wind and solar energy zones in Kurnool, and transmission facilities for solar projects in Ananthapuram and Kurnool. The projects are designed to facilitate evacuation of renewable power and strengthen its integration with the national electricity grid.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for National Highway projects worth ₹1,880 crore. These include new four-lane Greenfield highway stretches on NH-365BG, the Tadipatri Bypass on NH-67 and a high-level bridge on the Penchalakona-Yerpedu section of NH-565. The projects are expected to improve road safety, ease congestion and reduce travel time between key cities, including Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad.
Later in the day, Modi will travel to Mysuru in Karnataka to inaugurate the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre, also known as Viveka Smaraka.
Built at the historic Niranjana Math to commemorate Swami Vivekananda’s visit to Mysuru in 1892, the facility spans more than 81,000 square feet and includes a 4-D Experience Centre, exhibition galleries, a 700-seat amphitheatre, classrooms, conference facilities, library, meditation and yoga hall, reading rooms, a book stall and dedicated study spaces for students preparing for competitive examinations.
The day’s programme reflects the Centre’s continued focus on expanding infrastructure, strengthening clean energy transmission, promoting advanced manufacturing and preserving cultural heritage while creating new economic opportunities in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
