Punjab Police on Friday conducted 594 raids across the state as part of its ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, arresting 365 individuals during coordinated operations aimed at dismantling gangster networks and their support systems.
Launched by Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, the campaign is being carried out by district police units in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) to make Punjab gangster-free.
According to the Punjab Police, three weapons were recovered during the raids, while preventive action was taken against 214 individuals. Police teams also arrested two proclaimed offenders (POs) during the statewide operation.
With the latest action, the total number of arrests under the campaign has risen to 54,879 since its launch.
Punjab Police has also appealed to the public to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and criminal activities through its Anti-Gangster Helpline (93946-93946), assuring that informants can provide details anonymously.
Meanwhile, the police continued its anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered Day 517 on Friday. During the day, police arrested 81 alleged drug smugglers and seized 420 grams of heroin, 5 kg of poppy husk, 6,078 intoxicant tablets and pills, along with Rs 6,460 suspected to be drug proceeds.
The total number of alleged drug smugglers arrested under the anti-narcotics campaign has now reached 75,025 over the past 517 days, according to official figures.
As part of its de-addiction initiative, Punjab Police said it persuaded 23 individuals to undergo treatment and rehabilitation for substance abuse.
