Priyanka Gandhi Defends Remarks on Pralhad Joshi, Questions Expunction from Lok Sabha Records

New Delhi, July 29, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday defended her remarks against Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi, asserting that she had only stated the truth and questioning why her comments were considered unparliamentary and removed from the Lok Sabha records.

Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Priyanka Gandhi said she stood by her statements and would continue to speak out despite criticism from the ruling party.

“I only spoke the truth. What was unparliamentary about what I said? If they want to punish me for speaking the truth, they are free to do so. I will continue to speak the truth,” she said.

The Congress leader also claimed she had evidence to support her allegations. Referring to an incident in Mangaluru, she alleged that an individual linked to an assault case involving women at a pub had been inducted into the BJP by Pralhad Joshi before being removed from the party hours later.

“I have videos with me. Photographs of his induction are also available. This is not just about one incident; it reflects his attitude towards women,” she said.

Priyanka Gandhi further stated that she would raise the issue of the expunction of her remarks from the parliamentary proceedings.

Responding to Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju’s allegation that Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi had used abusive language in the House, she defended her brother, saying, “My brother has never used abusive language.”

The controversy stems from Tuesday’s heated debate on the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, during which Priyanka Gandhi made remarks about the newly appointed Education Minister that were later expunged from the official record.

The ruling BJP strongly objected to the comments, with Pralhad Joshi accusing the Congress MP of making unsubstantiated personal allegations and demanding an apology.

“Priyanka Gandhi should have authenticated her statements. One cannot make such allegations without evidence. I completely reject these claims. She should apologise, and appropriate action should be taken,” Joshi said.

During the debate, Priyanka Gandhi had also criticised BJP members for welcoming former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan after his resignation, saying they received him as if a “superstar” had arrived.

The episode has intensified the political confrontation between the BJP and the Congress, with both sides accusing each other of lowering the standards of parliamentary debate.
