Punjab Police on Monday conducted 476 raids across the state as part of its ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, arresting 260 individuals and seizing six weapons during coordinated operations aimed at dismantling gangster networks.
According to an official statement, the special operations were carried out at identified and mapped locations linked to associates of gangsters by district police teams in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), Punjab.
Launched by Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, the ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign is aimed at making Punjab a gangster-free state through sustained enforcement and intelligence-based operations.
On the 188th day of the campaign, police also took preventive action against 225 individuals and arrested one proclaimed offender (PO). With the latest action, the total number of arrests under the anti-gangster drive has risen to 53,508 since its inception.
Punjab Police has urged citizens to support the campaign by sharing information related to wanted criminals, gangsters and other criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline. The information can be provided anonymously by calling 93946-93946.
Meanwhile, the state police also continued its anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which completed its 513th day on Monday.
During the day’s operations, police arrested 66 alleged drug smugglers and recovered 2.2 kg of heroin, 11 kg of poppy husk, 505 intoxicant pills and ₹5 lakh suspected drug money from their possession.
With these arrests, the total number of alleged drug smugglers apprehended under the anti-drug campaign has reached 74,679 over the past 513 days.
As part of its de-addiction and rehabilitation initiative, Punjab Police also persuaded seven individuals to undergo treatment for substance abuse.
