Lok Sabha Adjourned After Opposition Protests Over Police Action Against NEET Protesters

New Delhi, July 27, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Lok Sabha was adjourned till noon on Monday after Opposition MPs disrupted proceedings with slogans demanding accountability over the police action during a NEET protest march in the national capital.

Despite repeated appeals from Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to allow Question Hour to proceed, Opposition members continued raising slogans and demanded an apology from the government over the alleged use of force against protesters during the July 20 Parliament March.

Following the continued disruption, the House was adjourned.

Earlier, several Opposition MPs had moved adjournment notices in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, seeking an immediate discussion on what they described as “brutal, unprovoked and disproportionate” action by Delhi Police and security personnel against students protesting at Jantar Mantar.

The protest was organised on July 20 by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) as part of a ‘Sansad Chalo’ march against alleged NEET paper leaks and other examination-related irregularities. The demonstration witnessed clashes between protesters and security personnel, following which force was used to disperse the gathering. Several protesters and police personnel were injured during the confrontation.

The protesters had also demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Pradhan resigned from the post on July 25.

Meanwhile, the government is set to introduce the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, in Parliament. The proposed legislation seeks to strengthen legal provisions against paper leaks and examination malpractices.

Opposition parties have questioned the effectiveness of the proposed amendments, arguing that existing laws have not prevented examination-related irregularities. They have also alleged that stronger provisions alone would not address accountability issues in previous paper leak cases.

The government has maintained that the proposed changes are aimed at ensuring greater transparency, preventing unfair practices, and protecting the future of students appearing in public examinations.
