Manpreet Singh Ayali, a senior leader of Waris Punjab De, has strongly condemned the alleged assault and mistreatment of Nihang Sikh youths by local residents while they were travelling to Sri Hemkund Sahib in Uttarakhand.
Describing the incident as unfortunate and highly condemnable, Ayali said the episode has deeply hurt the sentiments of Sikh Sangat across the country. Addressing the media, he expressed solidarity with the affected youths and their families, assuring them of full support during this difficult period.
“The first priority is to ensure that the victimized youths receive justice and that those responsible for the attack are dealt with firmly in accordance with the law,” he said.
Ayali stated that he has sought an appointment with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to discuss the matter and press for its immediate and impartial resolution. He added that efforts are also being made at administrative and legal levels to ensure a thorough investigation and bring the truth behind the incident to light.
Emphasizing the importance of protecting pilgrims, the Waris Punjab De leader said every devotee undertaking the sacred journey to Sri Hemkund Sahib deserves safety, dignity and respect. He stressed that steps must be taken to ensure that no pilgrim faces such treatment in the future.
Appealing to both the Central Government and the Uttarakhand Government, Ayali urged the authorities to treat the matter with utmost seriousness, take stringent action against the culprits, and restore the confidence of the Sikh community.
He reiterated that ensuring justice for the affected youths and safeguarding the rights, dignity and security of Sikh pilgrims must remain a top priority for the authorities.
