The Indian National Congress has appointed former Nawanshahr MLA Angad Singh as the Chairman of the OBC Department of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) with immediate effect.
The appointment was announced through an official communication issued by Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, stating that the decision has been made with the approval of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.
The move is being seen as part of the Congress party’s efforts to further strengthen its organizational structure in Punjab while enhancing outreach among the Other Backward Classes (OBC) community ahead of future political challenges in the state.
Angad Singh is considered one of the prominent young leaders of the Punjab Congress. He represented the Nawanshahr Assembly constituency in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha from 2017 to 2022 and has remained actively involved in party affairs.
His appointment to the key organizational post is expected to bolster the Congress party’s engagement with OBC communities across Punjab and strengthen the party’s grassroots network.
The Congress leadership has been undertaking a series of organizational changes in recent months as part of its strategy to revitalize the party structure and prepare for upcoming electoral battles in the state.
