Actor Shilpa Shetty has rejected a viral social media post attributed to her on the issue of reservation, calling the statement “completely fabricated” and warning people against believing false information circulating online.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Shilpa clarified that the remarks being shared in her name were fake and described them as “malicious garbage”.
“I am shocked to see fake statements on reservation falsely attached to my name. This is completely fabricated, malicious garbage. Do not fall for this fake news!” she posted.
The clarification came after a screenshot claiming to be from the actor’s Instagram story started circulating on social media. The post allegedly contained comments on caste-based reservation and sparked discussions online, though several users questioned its authenticity.
The fabricated statement attributed to Shilpa suggested changes to reservation policies by linking medical services and professional opportunities with caste categories. The actor, however, denied making any such remarks.
The fake post surfaced amid renewed online debates around the reservation system, with some social media users discussing demands for its review or removal.
On the work front, Shilpa Shetty was recently seen in the Kannada action thriller KD: The Devil, directed by Prem and featuring actors including Dhruva Sarja, Sanjay Dutt, V. Ravichandran, Ramesh Aravind, Reeshma Nanaiah, Jisshu Sengupta and Nora Fatehi.
She is currently hosting the reality cooking series Maa Hai Na, where celebrity contestants participate in cooking challenges alongside family members.
Shilpa made her acting debut with the 1993 thriller Baazigar and went on to feature in several successful films, including Main Khiladi Tu Anari and Jaanwar.
