Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday showcased India’s expanding deep-tech and innovation ecosystem to fellow BRICS leaders during a visit to the Bharat Innovates Exposition at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
Sharing pictures from the visit on X, Modi said, “Innovation from India. Solutions for the world!” He added that he was proud of the energy and dedication of India’s youth.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and other BRICS leaders accompanied Modi during the visit.
The exposition is being held as India hosts the 18th BRICS Summit under its BRICS Chairship. The two-day Bharat Innovates Exposition, which began at Bharat Mandapam on Friday ahead of the summit, showcases innovations emerging from India’s deep-tech ecosystem.
Organised by the Ministry of Education in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs, the exposition is a national initiative aimed at accelerating innovations emerging from India’s higher education ecosystem and connecting them with global opportunities.
The programme seeks to foster long-term partnerships between Indian startups, higher education institutions, laboratories and research parks and international stakeholders, including companies, investors, incubators, universities, research institutions, governments and overseas alumni.
The BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition is the second major showcase of India’s deep-tech startups in 2026, following the inaugural Bharat Innovates edition held in Nice, France, from June 14 to 16.
The New Delhi exposition features 37 Indian deep-tech startups selected from the original cohort of 120 ventures that participated in Bharat Innovates 2026 in Nice. The event reflects the theme of India’s BRICS Chairship — “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”
Meanwhile, Bharat Mandapam also hosted a gala dinner on Saturday evening for BRICS leaders, with Putin, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus among the dignitaries arriving at the venue.
A specially curated vegan dinner highlighted India’s culinary diversity while emphasising sustainability, inclusivity and mindful hospitality.
The evening also featured “Navarasa — The Universe of Shared Emotions”, a cultural performance celebrating shared artistic traditions.
Another major attraction was the BRICS Symphony, “One Rhythm, Many Cultures”, which brought together musicians from BRICS member and partner countries. Drawing on diverse musical traditions and instruments, the collaborative performance highlighted cultural diversity and the spirit of togetherness within the BRICS grouping.
